Blockchain technology, the technology that serves as the basis for Bitcoins, was launched by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009 and then improved upon by Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin in 2015. This technology and its derivatives (tokenization, smart contracts, decentralized autonomous organizations) opened up a great number of unique opportunities for humanity.
